‘What being a “relational” therapist means’
Over that last few decades there has been a significant paradigm shift in the psychotherapy world towards being more relational. Yet the term ‘relational’ is understood and applied by psychotherapists in widely varying ways. "In this presentation, I use case examples to show different ways of working relationally and consider the opportunities and challenges posed. I argue that if relationships constitute the core of psychological problems, they need to be harnessed in the pursuit of client’s growth. We will explore various debates around how we might use the therapeutic relationship as the primary source of any healing"
